Reviews & Testimonials

Dr. Anderson always has a solution
Dr. Anderson is extremely knowledgeable and has a solution for any health problems we have encountered with our pets. We find that Dr. Anderson explains medical issues clearly to us, so we have a good understanding of the problem and treatment.
We recommend Dr. Anderson to any of our friends that have pets. We appreciate that Dr. Anderson and his staff can do everything on-site pretty much right away, from diagnosis to treatment. Our youngest cat suffered from megacolon and was in terrible pain. He may have died if Dr. Anderson hadn’t performed the complicated but necessary colonectomy (to remove his colon). We have always felt that pets are family, so finding someone you can trust to do surgery on them is difficult. We are pleased that our kitty recovered from the surgery so well, and now likes playing with our much-larger puppy.

Vancouver vet whose opinion and expertise I trust
Dr. Anderson has treated my rabbit for a number of dental problems, including a mouth infection and needing his teeth trimmed. I take him to Dr. Anderson because he is a knowledgeable source of information, has a lot of expertise and takes time to clearly explain what needs to be done to help my rabbit.
I feel assured that I am taking my pet to a vet whose opinion and expertise I can trust.

Good at treating not just the animals, but the owners, too!
Dr. Anderson is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain things. He treated our hedgehog several years ago, and then our dog for a variety of ailments. He seems to care a lot about the animals he sees, and his staff is very nice, too. Dr. Anderson is good at treating not just the animals, but the owners, too. We appreciate how informative he is, and that he provides different options for treatment.

You can tell Dr. Anderson loves animals
Over the years, we have taken 5 cats and 1 dog to Dr. Anderson. You can tell he loves animals, and it’s not all about business with him. He is very knowledgeable, thorough, and goes above and beyond the call of duty for both the animals and their owners.

Dr. Anderson has extraordinary veterinary skills
Dr. John Anderson has delivered superb care to our beloved pets over the years. Our current dog, Woody, is a 10-year-old toy poodle. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy (congestive heart failure). The initial prognosis was not good, but shortly thereafter Dr. Anderson attended a veterinary conference where a scientific paper was presented by a colleague who had successfully treated congestive heart failure in both cats and dogs with a combination of drugs and select health supplements.
Dr. Anderson shared this scientific paper with me and we began treating Woody immediately with this combination of pharmaceuticals and supplements. Consequently, Woody’s health began to rapidly improve. He has gone from being constantly short of breath and listless to being constantly playful, and charging around the house with boundless energy, like a puppy. Woody is a testament to Dr. Anderson’s extraordinary veterinary skills, and his ability to successfully combine traditional and natural veterinary medicine to benefit his patients.

At Anderson Animal Hospital, we will continue to provide services to the best of our abilities during these tough times. While local authorities may order non-essential businesses to close, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association considers veterinary services to be essential and we remain available for essential care. We are adapting plans and protocols reflecting recommendations from public health and veterinary authorities to ensure our hospital teams can continue to provide care for your pet.

Our operating hours are presently unchanged, however we may be required to alter our hours on short notice as the situation progresses. We will communicate changes to our hours by email and social media. During operating hours, our veterinarian and staffing team may be limited and our hospital may need to triage patients based on medical needs. At this time, we will also be rescheduling all non-urgent, elective procedures and examinations (ex. boarding, grooming, elective surgeries, dental procedures).

To minimize exposure, we are operating a closed-door hospital. We ask you to stay outside or in your vehicle and please call us at 604-263-6767 when you arrive and adhere to the following steps:

  • We will take a medical history on the call, and a staff member will bring your pet into the clinic for an exam with a veterinarian

  • After the exam, we will call you with the recommended treatment plan, and then bring your pet back to your vehicle

  • If you are picking up food or medication, please wait outside and we will bring it to you

  • Drop-off appointments will also be provided as alternatives to in-person visits.

  • Please be aware that there is a delay in deliveries from our supplier, there is no supply shortage but our deliveries may take a few extra days to arrive

  • Alternatively, food & medications can be purchased & delivered, directly to your home at: We are temporarily suspending food pick ups at our Hospital and you need to call us first for arrangement.

Please do not come to the hospital if:

  • You have traveled outside of Canada within the past 2 weeks or have close contact with such people

  • You are feeling any symptoms such as a cough, fever, or difficulty breathing

  • If you have been or are in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19

Give us a call and we will discuss alternative arrangements to ensure that your pet receives the care it needs

We appreciate your patience during this time, as there may be higher call volumes and longer wait times as we screen appointment bookings. As the COVID-19 situation rapidly evolves, we will continue to keep you up to date so that you can make the best decisions for your pet’s health care.

Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                                     Your Anderson Animal Hospital Team
